Managing Nokia Pc Suite

Nokia Connection Manager

Nokia Connection Manager is used for controlling the connection between the phone and the PC when using Nokia PC Suite. You can activate/deactivate connection methods in it, as well as configure (allocate communications ports to) the connection types.
You can open Nokia Connection Manager for example by right-clicking the Nokia PC Suite icon in the Windows taskbar and by selecting Manage connections from the menu or by clicking the Connection... button in Phone Selector.
For using a phone as a modem, create the connection in Windows. If you are trying to connect via infrared, check if you first need to update the infrared driver. See the section Using your phone as a modem.

Configuring connection types

Some connection types need to be configured before they can be used to connect a phone and Nokia PC Suite.
If the Configure... button is disabled (grey) when a connection type is selected, the connection type cannot and need not be configured. The infrared and USB cable (DKU-2, DKE-2, CA-53, CA-70 or CA-101) connection types need no configuration.

To configure serial (CA-42) connection types

  1. Make sure that the serial (CA-42) connection type you want to configure is activated in Nokia Connection Manager.
  2. Click Configure...
  3. Select the correct COM port from the list. Click OK.
  4. Close Nokia Connection Manager.

Note:

The CA-42 cable is connected to the USB connector of your computer and Windows recognizes it as USB. However, in Nokia Connection Manager you have to select the serial cable connection type to monitor the CA-42 connection and define the COM port for the cable if necessary.

To configure the Bluetooth wireless technology connection type

  1. Make sure that the Bluetooth wireless technology connection type you want to configure is activated in Nokia Connection Manager.
  2. Click Configure...
  3. Follow the instructions on the user interface to pair and authenticate the devices.
  4. Close Nokia Connection Manager.

    Activating/deactivating connection types

You can activate/deactivate connection types whether or not the phone is connected to the PC.

    Note:

The CA-42 cable is connected to the USB connector of your computer and Windows recognizes it as USB. However, in Nokia Connection Manager you have to select the serial cable connection type to monitor the CA-42 connection and define the COM port for the cable if necessary.

    To activate/deactivate connection types

    1. Open Nokia Connection Manager for example by right-clicking the Nokia PC Suite icon in the Windows taskbar and by selecting Manage connections from the menu or from Phone Selector.
    2. From the list of connection types, select or deselect the appropriate connection type(s). A selected connection type has a tick in the box in front of it.
    3. If necessary, change the selected COM port by clicking the Configure… button and selecting the correct port from the COM port combo box list. Click OK.
    4. Close Nokia Connection Manager.
